Your motorhome checklist
We know it's exciting to look through all of the different options you can choose from when searching for a motorhome rental. But it can quickly get confusing too. That's why we recommend running through a quick checklist before you make a search:
- What's your budget? Having an idea of what you're happy to spend will quickly narrow down your choices. Don't forget things like extras and vehicle protection, which will impact the total cost.
- How many people are your travelling with? If you are a family of four, you can take certain vehicles out of the equation straight away. You'll need at least a 4 berth motorhome to comfortably accommodate everyone.
- What features and amenities do you need? Not all campers and motorhomes have a shower or toilet. If the idea of using a public bathroom or rest stop isn't for you, then you'll need to make sure you have these features in your vehicle.
- Will you be staying at a holiday park, freedom camping or a combination of both? If you're staying in holiday parks or campgrounds, you're more likely to have access to things like cooking facilities, bathrooms, and electric hook ups. So it may not be as important that you have a kitchen and bathroom in your vehicle. But if you're planning to freedom camp, a self-contained motorhome is going to be more useful (and sometime legally necessary) for your trip.
There may be other things to consider specific to your trip, such as the type of vehicles allowed at music festivals or in National Parks.
